First Aid Basics for Parents: Important First Aid Knowledge Every Parent Should Have

1. CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)

2. Choking

  • Infants (under 1 year): Hold the infant face down on your forearm, supporting their head. Give up to 5 back blows between the shoulder blades. If unsuccessful, turn the infant face-up and give 5 chest thrusts using two fingers.

  • Children (over 1 year): Perform the Heimlich maneuver. Stand behind the child, place your arms around their waist, and make a fist with one hand. Place the fist above the navel and grasp it with your other hand. Perform quick, upward thrusts until the object is expelled.
